Sailing boat birthday card

On Tuesday it will be my Fairy Godmother’s husband’s birthday (which sort of makes him my Fairy Godfather…). They used to live on their yacht together sailing around the world, so I know he loves boats.

I saw the ‘Happy Birthday old salt’ sentiment in the Waltzingmouse ‘Ocean Bound‘ stamp set & it was made for him, so I stamped the sentiment on some white card in SU! Night of Navy ink, then stamped the rope circle around it & used my 2″ punch to cut it out. Then I stamped the life ring in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured in the straps in Promarkers ‘Poppy’ and fussy cut the outside and used my craft knife to cut out the holes. I also have the ‘Pinstripe Backgrounder‘ stamp that I inked with the same ink. I used a navy card for the base and attached the pinstripe background at an angle, then cut off the courners that were sticking over the edges of the card.

Next I stamped the Lili of the Vally ‘Sailing Boat‘ stamp on some more white card & cut it out using my Spellbinders Labels 2 die. I coloured him in using Promarkers.

I used the Memory Box ‘Majestic Anchor’ die with some metalic black textured card. I hooked the anchor and life ring together & used quicky glue to attach them to the sentiment. I used roll-on glue to attach ‘Sailing Boat’ and foam sticky fixers to attach the sentiment and embellishments over the top.

I will be entering this card in the Lili of the Valley Monthly Challenge ‘Name That Tune’, my tune is ‘Sail Away’ by David Gray (on his White Ladder album). I hope you like it!

  1. Wow, this is really delightful…I’m sure your “fairy-God-Father will love it, I know I do. That pinstripe background is perfect for your nautical theme…and that little sailor is just too cute. Fantastic job.
