I love Andy Warhol’s art & I’ve often wondered if I could make a card in his style. A friend of mine studied Spanish at University, so I like to send her the odd text or birthday card with Spanish greetings.
I have a lovely simple cupcake stamp from Stamposaurus called ‘Cupcake Strawberry’ 1905 (I can’t find it on their website any more so maybe they don’t make it anymore…) that I thought I would be able to do a birthday ‘Andy Warhol style’ card with.
I stamped the stamp in Archival Ink a few times onto sheets of PAPERSTATE Accessories ‘Bright Cropping Block’ paper in pink, orange, yellow, blue, green and grey. I fussy cut the cupcakes out & then with spare cupcakes I cut out the elements so I had a whole cupcake as a base & different coloured elements that I could mix & match. I cut three background rectangles 6 cm x 7 cm as backgrounds for the cupcakes using my paper trimmer. Then I used the Spellbinders Labels Small die to cut out the blue card for the sentiment. I inked the sentiment with Archival black ink too.
When I was happy with the cupcakes I stuck the elements down on top of the ‘base’ cupcake with Quicky glue and then adhered them to the background with roll-on glue. I attached the sentiment below the cupcakes with roll on glue too.
