Today is my friend’s birthday & I’ve popped his card and present through his door so I can share this with you now. He’s always been very image conscious; well groomed and well dressed with shiny shoes. So I felt wishing him a stylish birthday would be a nice twist on the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment.
The sentiment is from an Acid Drops and Whatnots toppers set (ADTOP 04 Marla) and whilst the images are femenine, the sentiments are very plain so could be used for a masculine card too, so they are super useful.
The card base is a cream C5 card and the papers are from the docrafts Papermania ‘Heritage Press’ A5 paper pack. I stuck the papers on with roll-on glue, then attached the buttons with Glossy Accents and the sentiment with 3mm foam pads.
I made a Steampunk themed birthday card earlier this month for another friend of mine, so I still had the folder with stamps etc out and I came across the Kanban set ‘Jasper’ that I haven’t used for AGES. It features a rather dapper outfit on a manequin and I thought this would tie in really well with the overall theme of the card. I stamped the image on Neenah Classic Crest card in VersaFine ‘Vintage Sepia’ ink and left it to dry overnight. The next day I coloured the image with my Spectrum Noir alcohol pens; EB1, IG1, IG2, GB3, GB4, TB4, TB5, TB8, DR4 and DR5. I fussy cut the image out, then went around the edges with DR7 so the edges weren’t white. I used Hi-Tack glue to attach the image to the card front.
Inside the card I stamped the Waltzingmouse ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment from the ‘Say it With Style’ stamp set in Midnight Muse ink.
When I had finished I still felt the card looked really bare, but I didn’t know what other embellishments to add, so I just left it. I hope he likes it!
Will you be watching the Rugby World Cup England vs Wales match later? I have mixed loyalties because I support both teams… I think it will be a very close match – probably only 3 points will separate the two teams on the final whistle, so I think it’s going to be a very exciting match!!
Fab card. Very dapper!
Thank you Florence! I really enjoyed making it and was pleased with how it turned out because I find men’s cards so difficult! x
