I saw this greeting in a stamp set somewhere, I couldn’t justify getting the stamp set, but I have alphabet stamps, so I wanted to make it with my alphabet stamps.
My last blog post hinted that I was stressed and rather unhappy and as a crafter I know that colouring is a really good way of de-stressing. I printed off a lot of Hannah Lynn digital stamps onto Neenah card stock months ago thinking ‘I’ll print these now so I’ve got them for when I need an image for a card.” well, they are all still uncoloured, so that went to plan! Never mind, I had the images and so I wanted to colour in ‘Priscilla’ for my card, because she looks like a very cool witch.

Dress – LV1, LV2, LV3. Petticoats and hat band – CG3, CG4, LG5. Gloves, shoes, hat and bodice – BGR1, BGR2, BGR3, IG10. Broom – CT2, CT3, CT4, GB8. Eyes – IB1 and True Black. Skin – FS1, FS2, FS3, FS5, FS8. Hair – EB3, EB4, EB6, TN7. Sky – TB8, stars – blender.
I used the circular ‘waste’ from the thank you card I made a few weeks ago to create a mask for the moon behind Priscilla. To make the stars in the sky I pressed the colourless blender pen to the card and just let it pick up the colour from the card and repeated on the same spot until the colour had gone. I then added some wink of stella white glitter pen over the stars to make them slightly sparkly.
Next I layered the image on some silver mirror board and used my perfect layers tool to cut a 1/8″ border, then I made another layer of lime green card. It was only at this point that I went to see if my image and layers would fit on the C5 card base I had been planning to use… It was far too big… err… plan B! The mats and layers would fit on an 8″x8″ card base, but with lots of white space. I compared the colours in the image to some card I had and Elegant Eggplant card seemed to be the best colour match so I cut a piece of that to go on the front of the card and attached the layers on with roll-on glue.
Then I needed to create the sentiment, so I took some more of the lime green card I had used for the layering of the image and took my Waltzingmouse Stamps ‘Victorian Alphabet’ set and stamped them in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with ‘sterling silver’ Stampendous! embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment so it would be the same size as the green layer and attached it to the front of the card.
I really wanted to stamp a few bits inside the card too so I grabbed my Waltzingmouse Halloween stamp sets and found the sentiment from ‘Midnight Feast’ and the bats from ‘Halloween Party’. I stamped the sentiment in Elegant Eggplant ink and the bats in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
You know how you look at a ‘finished’ card and think ‘nope, not quite right. Needs something more.’? Well I looked at this card and thought it needed a ribbon or some sequins or something, but where to put it? So I settled on putting on some rinestone gems for extra stars on the image.
I just adore this image!! I love Hannah Lynn’s art work and I will try to colour more of my digi stamps so I can use them in future cardmaking projects.
