Mothering Sunday 2017

Happy Mothering Sunday to all the Mothers in the world!

My Mum loves Boston Terriers, and if she wasn’t caring for my aged Birman cat I think she would have a little pack of rescue Bostons. As Mothering Sunday is all about Mums I wanted to create a card that would make her smile, and I know Bostons would do just that! Art Impressions created an exclusive stamp for #STAMPtember2016 that I bought in this haul, so it was just made for a card for my Mum.

I bought a paw print clear stamp from Hobbycraft YEARS ago and I have used it in scrapbooking etc. but I can’t remember if I’ve ever used it on a card. I wanted to use it on the background to create my own patterned paper, so I cut a piece of Neenah Classic Crest card to 5×7 inches and got out my VersaFine Onyx Black, Versa Mark ink, Lucky Limeade, Sahara Sand and Island Indigo inks and stamped randomly over the card until it was covered. The VersaMark ink was sprinkled with Stampendous! Vivid Orange embossing powder and heat set using my heat gun. once the paw print patterened paper was done I attached it to the card base with double sided tape.

I stamped the AI Bostons onto Neenah Classic Crest card and coloured them with my Spectrum Noir alcohol pens. There are several colour variations of Bostons, so I tried to create one red Boston and one lilac Boston, with the remainder being the traditonal black and white.

Once I had coloured the Bostons and i was happy I trimmed down the card to 6 cm x 7 inches so it would go over the patterned paper, but still show enough of it behind.

For the sentiment I used the lili of the Valley circular sentiments clear stamp with VersaMark ink and the same Vivid Orange embossing powder and because I don’t have a circular die that fits I fussy cut around the edge. I wanted to try to create a ‘dog tag’ out of my circular sentiment so I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole in the Boston panel and in the circular sentiment and then set a white eyelet in both. I used a short length of Hemptique twine in teal to continue the colour theme to attach the sentiment to the Boston panel.

To attach the Boston panel to the patterned base I added thick foam tape to the back of the panel and adehered it in the middle of the card.
