I’m baaaaaack!!

So, I submitted my Thesis! (Eeeek!!) I will not lie, I am pooped! I only had 2 hours sleep each night for the last week to get it done. That has to have been the most horrible thing I’ve done, I hate writing/typing and being desk-bound, so I have no idea why I thought doing a PhD was a good idea when it’s a well known fact you have to write a massive book at the end. I suppose I should look on the bright side and remember that I will never have to write something that long ever again.

Happy 2018 everyone! (yes, I’m a month late, but I’ve been busy writing a book!) How are your new year’s resolutions going? I decided in 2017 that I wanted to learn calligraphy as (due to my Dyslexia) my handwriting is appalling! When I joined Instagram it didn’t take me long to find lots of AMAZING calligraphers and I started following them (going green with envy at how perfect their hand writing was…) then Shelly Kim brought out a calligraphy lettering tin with step-by-step instructions for each letter and I knew that this was going to be the best thing for me to get to improve my handwriting, so I bought it on Amazon along with some Papermania fluid metallic brush markers. Because of writing my Thesis (I SOUND LIKE A BROKEN RECORD – AAAAAAARRRRGH!!!) I haven’t had a chance to do any practice until now, and as I’m unemployed this month I have no excuses for not doing some practice every day!

My word for the year is ‘joy’ so I decided that this was where I should start my lettering journey and I’ve included my practice for today below (be kind – this is brand new to me!!).

I’m hoping to get back into my cardmaking and blogging, but I haven’t got a day job right now, which means I haven’t got any money for new supplies!! So now I’m earnestly looking for jobs (I did apply for a few before I submitted, but no joy), please keep your fingers crossed for me!!

  1. Congratulations on finishing your thesis. For some reason this only came up in my feed today! Hoping you have had some luck on the job front. I was out of work for 5 months last year and am now working 3 part time jobs (I really only want to work 2 or 3 days) but two are casual and one should finish soon! Your practice “joy” looks great to me and I am sure you have been practising since you wrote this.
