Concord and 9th Christmas card

Disclaimer: I made this card in December (yes, rather obvious given the theme!) but this is the first chance I’ve had to blog about it because I was writing my Thesis. I made this card for my best friend because I really do feel guilty not giving her a Christmas card because she is my longest running friend – we have known each other since we were 11!

I wanted to have a soft green colour scheme for this card so I found my Simon Says Stamp white woodgrain card (Hero Arts do one that is almost identical so you can use that if you have it), cut it down to fit a 6×6 card base and inked it with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink.

I wanted to decorate the bauble/tree ornament with snowflakes so I used the Stampers Anonymous ‘Swirly Snowflakes’ stamps and stamped them in VersaMark ink on some Centura Pearl card and I embossed the snowflakes with ‘Golden Mint Lustre’ cosmic shimmer embossing powder. Then I die cut the ornament using the Concord and 9th die. I also die cut the top of the ornament from matt silver card stock. I also die cut the Merry Christmas die set (B186) from the same matt silver card.

I adhered the green woodgrain card to the card base, then adhered the ornament and drew a silver thread so the ornament wasn’t hanging in midair. I then adhered the sentiment over the ornament with wet glue.

Last, but not least I added some docrafts Neon Shimmer Dome Stickers in green to add a bit more sparkle.

On the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment from the Concord and 9th ‘Ornamental’ stamp set in Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink.

Do you like non-traditional colour schemes for Christmas cards or do you tend to stick to red and green?
