It was my Mum’s birthday on Tuesday, but this week has been demanding at work so I’m only able to blog about it now!
This card is completely inspired by THESE CARDS that Amy Rsavy created at the beginning of the month, so not my original idea at all.
So I don’t have the Picket Fence Studios stamps that Amy used, but I do have the Prima princesses ‘Katherine’ rubber stamp, and because my Mum LOVES sunflowers, this is a great image to use for a card for her. I treated the card liberally with my embossing buddy bag before stamping to stop the embossing powder sticking anywhere I didn’t want it, I also re-inked and stamped the image several times with VersaMark ink to ensure I got a good impression, so I was using my Tim Holtz stamping platform. I embossed the image by sprinkling it with my Stampin’ UP! copper embossing powder and set it using my Ranger heat tool.
The ‘happy’ was die cut using the MFT Stitched Alphabet Dienamics from black card and embossing the word ‘birthday’ from the ‘All About You’ stamp set with white embossing powder on black card.
So I hoard crafty things (I know, you’re shocked…) and this black and white striped Washi tape was in the Stampin’ UP! ‘seasonal snapshot 2015 Project Life accessory pack’ and I haven’t used it since I got it. I don’t have the MFT black and white stripes paper pack and I was thinking about stamping a strip of card to go down the side of the card, but then I remembered this Washi and thought it would be cool to put it to use, so I ran it down the left side of the card base and folded it over at the top and bottom edge to secure it.
Last but not least I added drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Glossy Black to tie in with the Washi tape and sentiment strip. In hindsight I think it would look nice with some drops in Copper Penny too.
Is there a card maker who’s creations you like to copy?
Enjoy your weekend!
