Distress Speckled Egg haul and card

I’m so excited! I ordered the Tim Holtz Distress bundle for the brand new colour ‘Speckled Egg’ and it’s arrived!!

I didn’t have any Distress Oxides or Distress Oxide sprays before I ordered this bundle, so I decided to order the Peacock Feathers and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide sprays as well so I could have a play with layering.

I spritzed some Distress watercolour cardstock with my Distress Oxide Spray inks and dried it with my heat tool, then I decided I wanted to try spraying with Perfect Pearls over the top, so I made up a mini mister with Perfect Pearl and water and sprayed it over the top. Once the perfect pearls had dried I die cut it with the largest Simon Says Stamp ‘Wonky Hearts’ wafer die.

Once I had the oxide spayed heart I wanted to make a card so I used the MFT ‘Splotchy Dots’ background stamp to stamp Distress Oxide in (you guessed it!) Speckled Egg directly on the card base.

I decided that the image I wanted to use was of one of the girls from the MFT ‘Unicorns and Glitter’ stamp set. I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo black ink on Neenah. I used my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to colour her in – I used FS2, FS3 and FS4 for her skin and FS9 for the blush on her cheeks. To colour her hair I used a base of EB2, then the roots of her hair were EB3 and EB6 and for the purple ends I used LV2. Her boots are IG1, IG2 and IG3. For her dress I used PP2, LV3, LV2 and PL2. The bow in her hair is LV1 and LV2, the ears are PP1 and IG1 and the horn is IG1, IG2 and IG3.

I used the matching wafer die to cut her out, then added some Sakura jelly roll in black Glaze to her eyes. For the sentiment I wanted to continue the purple theme so I stamped the MFT ‘Starry night sentiments’ in VersaMark ink on Hero Arts Lavender card stock and added white embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool. To go with the sentiment I added stars that were die cut from Concord & 9th silver glitter card stock.

To assemble the card I added foam tape to the back of the heart, I adhered it to the card base offset (which was hard for me as I like adhering things in the middle!!), then added my little girl with liquid glue in the middle of the heart. I added the glitter stars with liquid glue on the heart, but decided I needed LOADS of extra sparkle so I grabbed my Martha Stewart star confetti and adhered them all over the heart with dabs of wet glue.

Do you have the new Distress colour Speckled Egg? What do you think of it?
