Paper Craft

GodSister’s 21st

It was my Mum’s Goddaughter’s 21st on the 30th March, but it’s her party today, I thougth I would show you the card I made her using my brand new Heartfelt Creations ‘Once Upon A Time’ collection stamps and die.

The base card is a white, textured A5 card. I cut a teal card pane about 1 cm smaller than the card base so there would be a 1/2 cm border, then I used the Kaisercraft ‘Script‘ stamp in VersaFine Vintage Sepia to create a background panel. I inked this with Tim Holtz distress inks in ‘Tattered Rose’, ‘Victorian Velvet’, ‘Squeezed Lemonade’ and ‘Peacock Feathers’.

I watched the Heartfelt Creations YouTube video about the set and so I ran the ‘Once Upon a Time’ die through my Big shot with some scrap paper to create a template. I then stamped the Heartfelt Creations ‘Time Sentiments PreCut Set’ onto some more white card. I inked it with the same distress inks as the background stamped image, then ran it through my Big Shot with a rubber embossing mat to create dimention on the image. If you attach the template to one side of your die with tape & lay it over the stamped image you can line up the die, then flip the die onto your stamped image and tape in place before running it through your die cutting machine.

I love the Lili of the Valley circular sentiments, and some of the sentiments on the stamp set weren’t quite birthday-y enough, so I stamped the Lili of the valley stamp ‘Time to’ twice in Vintage Sepia and stamped Celebrate and Party! on top, then I used the Spellbinders ‘Standard Circles Small’ die to cut them out. Then I inked them in the same colour scheme again and attached them over the top of the pocket watch and the ‘good times with you’ circle with foam pads.

I used the Waltzingmouse ‘Gift Card it’ die to cut out a gift card from Kraft card and the ‘Gift Card envelope’ from teal card. I assembled the teal envelope and checked the gift card still fitted, then I stamped some keys from the Kanban ‘Keys’ set AS6007 in Vintage Sepia on the gift card. I wanted to tie the gift card in with the card so I stamped the ‘Happy 21st’ LotV circular sentiment and attached it with roll on glue.

I can’t tie bows – I’m just rubbish, I have some lovely teal ribbon that matches just perfectly, but I didn’t want to cover up any of the circular sentiments on the stamp, so in the end I didn’t put ribbon on the card (even though I had planned to). To make the embossed ‘Time is short’ circle stand out a bit more I used Creative Expressions Metallic Gilding Wax in ‘Teal’ (it smells quite strongly, so make sure to used it in a well ventilated area!).
