Paper Craft

Masculine Birthday card

Two posts in one day – I’m on a roll!!! I’ll be out in the sunshine later though – I can’t resist!!!

It was my Step Sister’s boyfriend’s birthday on Friday & I always find men hard to create cards for…

Whilst going into Hobbycraft for something completely un-related I found the new Docrafts Papermania ‘Heritage Press’ A5 paper pack – OOOH!!! It’s fabulous!! So I HAD to use it for a masculine birthday card. I cut a 14 cm x 14 cm piece of paper to go on the Kraft 6×6 base card, then cut an 8 cm x 11 cm rectangle, I marked the centre of an 8 cm side, then 3 cm up from the marked side along both 11 cm sides using my Inkssentials Opaque pen white so it wasn’t blindingly obvious. I cut from the 3 cm marks to the centre of the 8 cm side to create a pocket shape.

I’m using one of my newly purchased IndigoBlu sentiment stamps – the set is called ‘Little Voice‘. I stamped the sentiment in Stampin’ UP! ‘Night of Navy’ ink on white card stock. I used the third smallest Spellbinders ‘Labels 2’ die to cut the sentiment out and emboss it (unfortunately it’s so warm the adhesive on my low tack tape came off on the die cut shape!! I hope no-one notices!!)

I have quite a lot of pocket watch stamps, but I couldn’t be bothered to cut them out, so I used my Xcut dies to create a pocket watch from white cardstock and gold mirror card with the addition of a Doodlebug black mini brad to attach the arms. I used three red buttons from my stash and attached them with Glossy Accents. The blue ribbon is also attached with Glossy Accents underneath where the pocket will be and I used my tweezers to hold the ribbon in place over the attachment loop to the pocket watch because the end didn’t want to stay attached with the Glossy Accents until it had dried!

I put double sided tape around the pocket and lined it up with the check pattern on the backing paper, then made sure the pocket watch could fit in and out of the pocket.

Inside the card I stamped the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment from IndigoBlu’s ‘Mr Fan-tash-tic‘ in Stampin’ UP! ‘Real Red’ ink.

So here is the finished product. Enjoy the rest of your weekends!!
