Mother’s Day Card 2015

I’ve been really inspired by the Clean and Simple look recently and I wanted to give it a go, but I was worried that it would look a bit lost with all the white card! Let me know if you think I got it right! I bought the Creative Expressions ‘Finishing Touches – Camellia – Complete Petals’ and Open Petals from my local craft shop and I asked them to order the co-ordinating ‘Striplet – Floral Meadow’ die but there was a UK-wide shortage of the Striplets, so I wasn’t able to get it in time & had to try something else. The Memory Box ‘Grassland Border’ (Style No. 825) popped out at me as I was perusing my die collection & I thought I could use the smallest of the Camellia flower dies to make a sort of wildflower meadow scene. I started out with a white 6x6in card base. The grass is cut from Lucky Limeade card stock and the flowers are from Wisteria Wonder. The ribbon is also Wisteria Wonder and so I stamped the Lilli of the Valley Circular Sentiment with the co-ordinating ink to tie it all in. DSC01350 I also wanted to create a matching tag to go with the card, so I die cut the largest of the Waltzingmouse ‘Stitched Tags Dies’ from Whisper White card stock and two circular gromits from Wisteria Wonder card stock and attached the same grass and flowers to the tag. The sentiment is from the Waltzingmouse ‘Say It With Style’ stamp set. The twine is from Hemptique and it just matches so well I had to use it to attach the tag to the flowers I was giving my Mum. IMG_0152 After attaching everything to the front of the card base, it looked very plain and I had a eureka moment because I remembered hidden in my stash were some white pearls (so still suitable for CAS) so I attached them as the flower centres & I thought the card looked so much better for them. I decided not to add pearls to the tag as it was around a plant and they were either going to get scuffed on the terracotta or dirty in the magical way only white things can get dirty!
