Charlie’s 30th Birthday Card

Hello everyone! Later today I’m going to my friend’s 30th Birthday Party that is going to be a Crystal Maze themed pub crawl around all the places we used to hang around when we were teenagers with challenges along the way.

I wanted to make a card that resembled the Crystal Dome with all the tickets flying about inside it so I decided to make a shaker card.

I used a printout of a dodecagon and cut it out with my Tonic Studios Super Trimmer, then I attached it over some silver mirror card and used it as a template. I also used it to cut out one acetate dodecagon and three Whisper White dodecagons.

To one of the Whisper White dodecagons I attached Sellotape Sticky Fixer Strip around the edge to create the back of the shaker card and poured silver and gold sead beads into it and gold sequins. I die cut three gold tickets using the Whimsy Stamps ‘Ticket’ die and added them inside the shaker too. I attached the acetate over the top so the shaker contents were contained.

On the back of the silver mirror card dodecagon I drew a 1.5cm line inside the edge of the shape that would cover the sticky fixer edge of the shaker card. I used scissors to cut it out and then used double sided red tape to attach it to the front of ‘the Crystal Dome’ shaker element.

Next I scored one of the Whisper White dodecagons so it had a hinge at one end and a score line in the middle so it would be a easel card. I attached it to the base card with Hi-Tack very sticky glue, let the hinge dry and then attached it to the shaker element of the card.

I used the Memory Box ‘Varsity Uppercase‘ Alphabet and ‘Varsity Numbers‘ dies to cut out white backgrounds and gold outlines and stuck them together using Quicky glue pen. I used foam pads to raise the letters above the base so there was a stop for the easel part of the card.

Using Nuvo Crystal Drops in ‘Bright Gold’ I added some drops to the base of the card to break up the white space and left the to dry over night.

I had um’d and ah’d about weather to put the ’30’ on the base ‘as is’ or to adhere them to another gold ticket, and I didn’t decide for days what to do, so this morning I bit the bullet & die cut another gold ticket and attached the 30 then stuck this to the base.

I’m going to really enjoy this weekend, I hope you all have a great weekend too!
