Welcome baby card

Some friends of mine were safely delivered of a baby boy last week and they have said that now the Grandparents and Aunties have met him, their friends can go over to meet him this afternoon, so I’m going to meet him for the first time today!

To celebrate his birth I have made his Mum and Dad a card. As he is a boy I decided to go with the traditional blue colour sceme with a baby blue and a darker blue. Blue works really well with Kraft, so I wanted to use that too for an extra masculine colour, my Neenah Desert Storm was just right for my base layer.

I don’t have much money at the moment, but I thought it was important to get a die especially (I don’t have any baby specific stash) so I bought this ‘Baby text and pin‘ die by Marianne Creatables. I wanted to have the sentiment ‘welcome baby’ so I die cut the welcome with my 1″ Contemporary Alphabet dies by Crafters Companion. I also wanted to use my Sizzix stackable stars dies too.

I die cut enough of the stars to have one at the top of the card and one at the bottom and the sentiment between them, but the card base didn’t have enough space for both stars! So after a quick re-think I adhered the second stack of stars to the inside of the card to bright the card front through to the inside.

The last step was adding some crystal drops in ‘Duck Egg Blue’ and leaving them to dry overnight.

I hope you like this card and found it inspiring. Do you know anyone having a baby soon? Or maybe someone has just had one – was it a boy or a girl?

Enjoy the last remnents of your weekend and have a good week!
