Black and gold appreciation card

All of my PhD supervisors are very hard working, dedicated people, and I am so lucky to have such a wonderful team of supervisors/advisors around me. However, I think one of my supervisors is just amazing – she has two ‘part time’ jobs (even though they are supposed to be 50%/50% it’s more like 70%/70%!!) and she has her own research to do as well as help with all of her student’s work from time to time when they need more help to get things done. With my recent gruelling experiment she gave so much of her time to help me to make my experiment a success, whilst also having all of her other things to do on top. I don’t know how she fits it all in, all I do know is that she is amazing, and I think she deserves to be told so…

I wanted to create a strinking and simple card with a black background and gold ‘watercolour’ effect, but I don’t have any gold watercolour paints… But, I do have my Cosmic Shimmer Metallic Gilding Polish…

I used my Tim Holtz stamping platform to line up the letters for the sentiment (sooo much easier than when I did it free-hand with my acrylic block for this card!) stamping with VersaMark ink and I used Seafoam White embossing powder so the sentiment would really stand out on the background. I decided the white looked a bit odd with the gold and black , so to help the colours to gel better I added some white gesso splashes over the panel.

To add some dimention I layered the panel with some black adhesive fun foam onto a 6×6 card base and added a few drops of white nuvo Crystal Drops to finish it off. I also decorated a matching envelope.
