Firstly, Happy Bank Holiday Weekend everyone!! The Bank Holiday couldn’t come quickly enough for me – I’ve been really flagging recently and wanted some solid down time and rest.
Secondly, I wanted to share this card with you. I received a belated birthday present from a friend of the family who has moved house recently and forgot my birthday (she joked and said I should blame it on her memory now that she’s old!!) so I wanted to send her a thank you card, because little surprises are always welcome!
One of my ‘Fairy Godmothers’ gave me this lovely journal for my birthday – it encourages mindfulness and focusing on all the little positive things that happen during my day. I love how bright it is – neon orange with white and blue and a splash of lime green, and I wanted to use the colour pallet for inspiration for this card.
I cut some Stampin’UP! Marina Mist card to 5×7 inches and adhered it to a 5×7 card base. I ran my VersaMark ink pad over a piece of white card and covered it with Stampendous! Vivid Orange embossing powder and heat set it, then die cut the sentiment from this strip using the Crafter’s Companion Die’sire ‘Contemporary Alphabet’ dies. I also die cut the sentiment from plain white card and layered the die cuts, with the white slightly offset so the orange was peeking through.
I thought this was going to be too plain, so I wanted to add a border to one side of the card, so I cut two strips of white card and again wiped my VersaMark ink over the wider strip, covered it with more Vivid Orange embossing powder and heat set it. I used the Lawn Fawn ‘stitched borders’ to cut a little detail edge in the white strip. I glued the orange and white strip to the card base with Hi Tack glue and used my T-ruler to line up my sentiment, which I also added with wet glue.
To finish the card off I added some white Nuvo Crystal Drops.

I hope this inspired you, if so – come back soon to see what I create next!
