Disclaimer: I made these cards in December 2017 when lots of my friends had their PhD vivas, so these cards were made in the wee hours of the night and only one photo seems to exist of them that was taken on my phone and with all the debris strewn all over my desk! I apologise that it’s taken me this long to write a blog post about them!
First I die cut several bottles from pearlescent card to look like champagne bottles using the Honey Cuts ‘Message in a bottle’ die. Next, I taped some black cardstock to my Ranger craft mat and I used the MFT ‘Radiating Rays’ stencil, masked off most of the stencil and then sprayed Perfect Pearls mist in ‘Sunflower Sparkle’ as gently as I could so the stencil woudn’t get too wet and the spray wouldn’t seep under the stencil.
When the stenciled spray was dry it looked really glittery – I was SO pleased with how it turned out! I then layered the black card on some gold mirror card and then adhered this to a side folding card base. I die cut the celebrate MFT dienamics from gold mirror card stock and adhered this over the top of the bottle with liquid glue.
I attached the bottle to the black cardstock layer so it looked like the rays were coming out of the top of the bottle, like the cork had just shot off. I used my spatula to add some nuvo Glimmer Paste in moonstone to the tops of the bottles to look like champagne spilling out. I let the Glimmer Paste dry overnight.
I used my Quickie glue pen and pick me up tool to adhere some Martha Stuart star glitter in ‘Lemon Drop’, then I added some Nuvo Jewel drops in Limoncello and Nuvo Crystal Drops in Pale Gold and let them dry overnight.
I hope you like the cards and that this might have inspired you to make something similar, do let me know in the comments section! My PhD viva is at the end of this month before Easter, so I have all my fingers and toes crossed that I’ll pass!!
