Golden anniversary card using emboss resist technique

So, yet another disclaimer – I made these cards and filmed the making of the cards back in September of 2017, but I didn’t want to blog about them until I had the corresponding YouTube video created as well. Dear me, this video has taken FOREVER to edit!! When I put all the clips together (minus Inara knocking the camera over and playing with my nuvo crystal drops!!) it was over half an hour long, so I had to speed it up and add a voice over – both techniques very new to me and OH, THAT WAS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE!! I shouldn’t complain – now I know something I didn’t before!

Anyway… I made the first card and the card in the video for my Fairy Godmother and her husband who were celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary in September (another thing I learnt for YouTube is to make a test card first so that I’m not endlessly looking for stuff off camera when filming and I have a spare if it all goes wrong).

I inked the Simon Says Stamp ‘Love is’ with Stampin’ UP! ‘Hello Honey’ ink (part of the 2014-2016 in color collection). I inked up the Altenew ‘Halftone Hearts’ with VersaMark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then inked over the panel with Distress ink in ‘Fossilized Amber’ using an applicator tool. Then I spritzed the panel with Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist in ‘Sunflower Sparkle’ to give it a golden shimmer. If you can’t get hold of Perfect Pearls Mist, you can make your own by adding a few scoops of Perfect Pearls powder into a misting bottle and adding water.

Because the panel was quite warped I added it to a 6×6 white card base with foam tape. I embossed the sentiment from MFT ‘Essential Sentiments’ on black card and trimmed it down to a narrow strip and cut it into a fishtail.

Last but not least I added some Nuvo crystal drops in white and Ebony Black.
