When life gives you lemons…

There are two answers to this phrase – one is more ‘adult’ than the other. I found a card with ‘When life gives you lemons grab tequila and salt’ in a card shop and it made me giggle, so I bought it on impulse and it has been sitting in my ‘store bought’ cards pouch ever since. When the Altenew ‘Main Squeeze’ stamp and die set came out I remembered that I had this card, so I pulled it out and used it for the inspiration for this card.

I know I mentioned the Altenew ‘Main Squeeze’ stamps, but I didn’t use them for this card at all, instead I used my brand new Gansai Tambi watercolours, Spellbinders ‘Make Mine Lemon Lime’ dies and Crafter’s Companion alphabet dies.

I taped my watercolour paper down to my clip board and covered it in a wash of clean, clear water and added some Yellow Ochre. Whilst the paint was still wet I sprinkled large rock salt granules over the panel and left the panel to dry overnight.

Whilst waiting for the panel to dry I stamped some of the greeting in Altenew ink on white card and cut out the words individually. I also die cut the lemons and slices from the Make Mine Lemon Lime die set from white card and inked them up with Citrus Burst ink and Fresh Lemon.

I removed the salt granules from the watercolour panel and trimmed it down a bit to fit on an A6 card base. I adhered the stamped words with clear foam squares and the die cut letters with glue pen.

Last, but not least, I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss White to create ‘salt’ on the panel.
