I made this card for my eldest step sister’s birthday (it’s a BIG birthday) so I wanted to push the boat out so this card is ALL about the glitter!!!
I coated some black card with Elizabeth Craft double sided adhesive and die cut the butterfly with the adhesive side up. I removed the backing from the inlays and covered the inlays in Sweet Poppy ‘Blue Teal’ Super fine satin glitter and burnished it in to get the shine up. I removed the rest of the backing paper and covered it with ‘Gunmetal’ super fine stain glitter.
I die cut leaves using Karen Burniston’s ‘Flowers and Bee’ dies from the black adhesive backed card, removed the backing paper and covered it with ‘Hunter Green’ super fine satin glitter.
I wanted a big card base, so I started with an 8×8 inch square card base and popped a black mat on the white card base. I adhered the butterfly using foam tape to pop it up and adhered the leaves with wet glue. I felt the card was a bit dark and needed a pop of colour, so I found some white glitter paper from my stash and used the flower dies from ‘Flowers and Bee’ dies. I cut some of the petals off and adhered them with liquid glue. I die cut the centers from the black card with adhesive and added some WOW ‘chocolate’ glitter.
Lat but not least I stamped the sentiment from the Honey Bee ‘Hi Honey’ stamp set and a bumble bee stamp from my stamp stash (I’ve had it for so long I have no idea where I got it from…) in VersaMark ink inside the card and sprinkled it with WOW! Embossing Glitter in ‘Black Twinkle’.
Do you use glitter in your cards, or do you prefer to use glitter cardstock to reduce mess?
