Awww! I can’t believe this crop of Sandwich Students have been with us for just under a year already! They have been wonderful – really engaging & outgoing, throwing themselves into the science & any social occasions with gusto, I’m sure the work groups they have been based with will be sad to see them go!
Because the Institute is well known for working on diseases of livestock I wanted to have cows & pigs & sheep etc. on the card, I went to my stamp sets & amazingly I don’t have them in my collection!! But, I just recently got the Mama Elephant ‘Cosmic Stars‘ set & I decidied to use the Aries, Taurus and Capricorn stamps & hope no one would know the difference…
I started with some blue A4 card that I scored & turned into A5 cards. I used the Marianne Creatables ‘Horizon Pinetrees‘ to create the field for the critters to be in from Stampin’ UP! ‘Gumball Green’ cardstock. I attached it to the front of the card with roll-on glue. Then I cut a circle from my Spellbinders nested circles from 10.8 cm x 14 cm Core essentials Cardstock in yellow, cut it to fit in the top left corner & attached it with roll on glue.
I used the Memory Box and Joy! Crafts ‘Puffy Clouds’ dies to cut the clouds from white card stock and attached them with Quicky glue to the blue card base.
The fence was a bit long-winded; first I die cut the Cheery Lynn Designs ‘Victorian Picket Fence’ (B123), then I cut off 4 of the uprights, left the 5th, then repeated so it looked more like a stock fence than a garden fence. I attached this to the bottom of the cards using Scrapbookers Glue (Scotch). I die cut the Lawn Fawn ‘Grassy Border‘ from green adhesive border punch strips (matchmakers, DCWV) ‘Neutrals’ and peeled off the backing to attach it over the top of the fence.
I coloured the animals with Promarkers and fussy cut them, then attached them with Scrapbookers Glue or 1mm foam pads. Last but not least, I die cut the Lawn Fawn ‘A Birdie Told Me‘ from white card & wrote the sentiments on them by hand with 0.5 Letraset Fine Line Drawing Pen. I attached the speech bubbles with 3mm foam squares.
What do you think? I hope they like them – I tried to make them all slightly different so they were individual to the student.
