I’m sure I’ve mentioned it hundreds of times, but my Grandmother is 94 and lives alone, so I like to make her a card for Christmas because she doesn’t get very many. Unfortunately her sight and hearing are both very bad, which adds to her isolation – she has a carer who comes in daily to help her with chores and keep her company. We are so grateful to Granny’s carer, she is a wonderful woman.
I wanted to keep this card simple as Granny’s eyesight is so poor, anything too intricate would be very difficult for her to make out. I started with a white A6 card base. I cut a piece of Stampin’UP! Whisper White card stock to fit on the front. I then stamped this panel with the IndigoBlu ‘Snowflakes’ stamp set in VersaMark ink and heat embossed Seafoam White embossing powder.
I used my Tim Holtz ‘Festive Berries’ Distress Ink foam pad to add colour to the panel to show the snowflakes up on the panel.
Next I cut a strip of Centura Pearl card stock to fit across the background panel, and a smaller strip of Whisper White card, which I again inked in ‘Festive Berries’.
Using the Cheery Lynn dies I cut some Snowflakes and the sentiment from Centura Pearl card and attached them to the red strip. Then, using roll-on glue I assembled the card layers and attached the layers to the card base.
I’ll be going to see my Granny the 22nd-23rd December so I will hand deliver this card to her then.
