Step sister’s Birthday Card

I saw this card on the Heartfelt Creations site and I loved the colour scheme and how sparkly it was! I wanted to re-create it for my Mum’s birthday card because she loves purples and greens, and then I realised that it’s actually my step sister’s birthday before my Mums! (Yes, I am very scatty!)

I recently got the Heartfelt Creations ‘Blazing Poppy’ stamp and die set and decided to use this for my card. I stamped the poppies onto Neenah card with VersaFine ‘Onyx Black’ ink and cut them out. I used Tsukineko Sponge Daubers to colour the petals with Tim Holtz Distress inks ‘Dusty Concord’, ‘Shaded Lilac’ and ‘Tumbled Glass’. I shaped the petals using my Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit, then attached petals on top of eachother with Hi-Tack glue. For the flower centres I made a large drop of nuvo crystal drops ‘crushed grape’ and sprinkled Purple Seed Beads over it, then left them to dry overnight. I used wink of stella in ‘Violet’ around the edges of the smaller flowers.

DSC01439Using the Heartfelt Creations ‘Delightful Daisy’ die to cut leaves from SU! ‘Pistachio Pudding’ card stock. I inked the edges with a sponge dauber and ‘Peeled Paint’, then decided I needed to shape them again with my Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit.

DSC01441I stamped the Waltzingmouse Stamps ‘Say It With Style’ sentiment in VersaMark watermark ink and used Cosmic Shimmer ‘Violoa Lavender Blaze’ embossing powder. I cut out the sentiment with Spellbinders Labels 2 die and cut one size bigger from pale blue card stock, then cut one size bigger from white card. I coloured the largest label with Dusty Concord ink. I layered the labels and glued them with roll-on glue.

I used HI-Tack glue and attached the flowers and leaves and labels to an 8×8 inch white card base.

DSC01440As a sort of after-thought I used a corner rounder punch on two corners of the card.

DSC01438I hope your working week is going well. Do you have kids who are on their summer holidays?
