Hey Foxy birthday card

Disclaimer: I made this card in November 2017, but this is the first chance I’ve had to blog about it. I made this card for a friend who was writing her Thesis at the same time as me – our friendship has been forged in the fire of PhD hell, so we’ve seen each other cry with frustration, anger and sheer exhaustion and celebrated those little victories of “my gel doesn’t have a ‘smile’! It’s straight and the bands are clear!” so this will be a life-long friendship!!

I stamped straight onto the shaped card base with my MFT ‘wood plank background’ in VersaMark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder (in hindsight this was a dreadful idea because when I was watercolouring it warped reall badly!!). I watercoloured the card base with some Spectrum Aqua pens and a water pen to move the colour around.

The fox die is by Xcut (docrafts) and I cut it from white, orange and black scraps I had in my stash. The acorns and leaves came in the die set too, so I used those dies to cut out some leaves etc. to decorate the background to add some interest.

I die cut the Lil’ inker designs ‘Hey Foxy word dies’ from black and white card stock and adhered them slightly offset so they stood out when adhered to the front of the card.

Last, but not least I adhered a few gold sequins for a little bling.
